Down to the wire with the AUSFTADate: 28 July 2004
This is it! The Opposition is set to vote on the AUSFTA on Monday morning 2 August 2004 - it is our last chance to get our message across loud and clear. The impact on Australia's cultural industries will be critical and irreversible - it places restrictions on future governments to control the future of the Australian voice on Australian screens. Our stories won't be heard. Our accent won't be heard. And our country won't be seen. It's not a free trade agreement if it costs us our culture. It's our last chance to do something and get our voice heard. Here's what you can do - and it's absolutely critical that you do! Make your opinion known on the Sydney Morning Herald poll by going to http://smh.com.au/polls/business/form.html All Labor members and senators will get a vote in caucus, please email all on the list available on our web site. www.free2baustralian.org.au, but if not at least the key players, and send personal messages and stories asking them to oppose the Australia United States Free Trade Agreement. It doesn't matter if you've done it before please do it again! It's not over until its over - so please join us in the last ditch effort to say no to the dud deal! It is absolutely crunchtime.
