Fixing Sydney, Transport & PlanningDate: 02 October 2008
The public transport woes of Sydney are bandied about by the media, politicians and public - but is a solution in sight? Now is the time to seriously examine infrastructure, transport and planning of Sydney particularly given the historic underinvestment by successive state governments and the current capacity constraints being experienced by the transport system. The NSW Fabian Society invites you to examine what Sydney, and in particular the often forgotten western suburbs transport needs will be in the future, and what some of the costs will be for the tax payer to get a workable solution to public transport in Sydney. Michael Easson (Chairman of Leighton Contractors' Western FastRail and formerly Secretary of the Labor Council), Dr Garry Glazebrook (academic) and Joe Hildebrand (Daily Telegraph Journalist) discuss these questions and others at Gleebooks. The Moderator for the seminar is Geoff Gallop When: 3.00pm Saturday 18 October 2008. Where: Gleebooks - 49 Glebe Point Road, Glebe. Cost: Seminar cost - Non-Fabians $10. Members are $5 - please show your current membership card to obtain discounted entry. Contact: Bookings essential - book at or on 9660 2333. Media queries please contact Simon O'Hara, Secretary, NSW Fabians on 0400 188815.
